A&M Birmingham Office Fit-Out

Alvarez & Marsal is a global professional services firm that specialises in turnaround management and delivering performance improvement in high profile businesses. Headquartered in New York, the company also has a strong UK presence with offices in several major cities, including Birmingham.

To cope with growing demand, Alvarez & Marsal was planning to increase its headcount in the West Midlands, requiring an expansion of its office space.

To do this, the firm relocated its team to a new office, and required support to create a high-specification space for its teams to deliver exceptional work for their clients.

Alvarez & Marsal appointed Denton, a specialist fit-out contractor that specialises in delivering lasting value through projects that resonates with clients and their people.

We supported Denton in this project by providing specialist electrical works that powered this transformational space.

Alvarez & Marsal were keen to create a new office space with a high specification, including brand new meetings rooms and boardrooms as well as providing bright open office space.

We were tasked with carrying out the electrical package, which included the installation of new floor boxes to accommodate the new desk layout, new lighting, and changing the old existing distribution boards which following a site visit we determined had been discontinued.

Alvarez & Marsal’s new offices are located on the the 8th and 9th floors in the building. While this office space was not live during the works, the offices on the other floors remained active.

Due to this, drilling was only allowed at certain times of the day (before 8am and after 6pm), requiring careful planning and co-ordination of the works to ensure this did not impact the programme.

Additionally, the design required some of the existing lighting fixtures to be retained whilst others were to be added. These two light fittings installed used different controls, making them incompatible with each other. Our team devised a solution that adapted the controls to overcome this, allowing both systems to operate in tandem.

Thanks to our successful management of the works and these challenges, the original works were completed, in addition to some additional works that we incorporated into the original programme.

All test results were satisfactory and there were no issues surrounding the electrical installation. Alvarez & Marsal has now moved into its new high-spec Birmingham offices where its team will continue to support businesses with their challenges.
